From the junction at Puerto del Bujeo, we take the track on the right which immediately begins an ascent to the mountain pass of la Higuera, situated in the foothills of the Sierra del Bujeo. Just before we reach the top, we'll have incomparable views over the Strait of Gibraltar. In terms of foliage, a dense cork oak forest will accompany us for the next several days. After the mountain pass of la Higuera, our gentle descent runs across the headwaters of the incredible valleys of the río de la Miel and the garganta del Capitán, heading toward the Sierra de la Palma. Then we'll come to the viewpoint of Hoyo de Don Pedro, where it is well worth the effort to look out over our surroundings. From here a long descent takes us past the country house of El Acebuche and then puts us in the plain called Llano de Botafuego, not far away from the city of Algeciras. La parte final nos lleva por una carretera hacia el núcleo urbano de Algeciras, primero por el sendero de la “puerta verde” y posteriormente a través de una considerable cuesta en una sucesión de rotondas.
NOTA IMPORTANTE: Si nuestra intención es continuar con el siguiente tramo y no hacer final de etapa en Algeciras, llegados al punto kilométrico 21.52 deberemos tomar a la izquierda en lugar de al frente (dirección Algeciras), entonces en este punto continuaremos con el rutómetro del siguiente tramo Algeciras-Castillo de Castellar a partir del punto kilométrico 4.78 En el p.k. 22.30 podremos ir, a la izquierda a Algeciras, a unos 2 kms., ciudad con todo tipo de alojamientos y servicios
