Author: Ildefonso Lucas We exit the town centre along the Camino del Cortijo de la Pita on a hard ascent until have reached the 'Vereda de Archidona a Alfamate', a wide track along 2 kms. of terrific ascent. After a dangerous downhill we'll pass across Alfarnate. We´ll border de village of Alfarnatejo to take a detour later on between olive trees on a climbing track that begins with a stretch of short climbs and downhills, with some marvelous views to the coast of Malaga.
After crossing over the road from Alfarnate to Periana, also known as "Puerto del Sol" that means "Mountain pass of the sun" we enter the village of Guaro. We´ll take a long straight with a hard climb and will arrive to an old railway track on which the last train belonging to the "Ferrocarriles Suburbanos de Málaga" made it´s last journey on August 1957. This part of the railway track coincides with a green belt also used as cattle track, and through these, passing by splendid Boquete we´ll enter Ventas de Zafarraya, province of Granada.
