Hola,

I will ride the Transandalus in September / October this year, starting from Jerez.
I have a flight back home from Malaga, 32 days later.
The plan is to ride the route clockwise at least until Ronda (or a bit further, cause that seems to be a nice section).

3 questions:
a) Your opinion whether this is realistic for somebody with a 'normal' condition.
b) I like to sleep in hotels from time to time (for a good wash  Giñar ) but I prefer wild camping so I can enjoy the nature at its fullest (no loud campings please).
Is wildcamping a realistic option at most parts of the route ?
c) I guess a light (rated +5 degrees) sleeping bag would be sufficient in September / October ?

Many thanks in advance for your advise & opinion.

Looking forward to visit Andalucia !

Koen.

Hi Koen:

I suppose you'll use a GPS device because riding the TA clockwise would be impossible with the roadbook (but anti-clockwise the roadbook is sufficient to find the good way). Please, think about to change your direction. In such case we would consider the way to come back from Jerez to Málaga.

a) The complete TA has been rided at 25-30 days for other bikers. It's a realistic plan
b) Camping (plus hotels every some days) is a good option, but pay attention the the weight of bike+charge
c) I can't opine about sleeping bag (better wait for some expert advices), but ¿will you use any tent?

Hi Fran,

Yes, I will be using a gps.  The roadbook is a fantastic job ! I printed it and went through it.  But for the whole route, it is such a lot of (heavy) paper, I was thinking to leave it at home and trust on the gps.
Or is there any reason you would recommend to bring the roadbook along anyway ?

I will certainly take in consideration to ride anti-clockwise then.
Clockwise was more convenient due to the fact I arrive in Jerez and fly home from Malaga.
This would also mean I would start with the 'easier' section (I think) and build up my condition for the higher mountains towards the end.
Correct me if I'm thinking wrong here please.

I will take a tent with me, but no cooking equipment (sure I must be able to find briliant food options in Andalucia on a daily basis  Lengua ); so the bike will be quite light weight.  Will send picture of the set-up later.

Hope to get someone opinion on the sleeping bag.

Kind regards.
